Do you support guns in schools grounds?

It has been one week since the incomprehensible tragedy at the elementary school in Newtown, Conn.  Since this horrific event, one of the main topics has been guns.  Many are outraged and politicians have now threatened to take swift action.  But will these completely absurd solutions really help in any way?  The honest answer is NO.

After a week in hiding, the NRA finally came out to the spotlight and the director really couldn’t have said it any better…

“The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.”

He really couldn’t have said it any better and I simply cannot understand how most anti-gun extremists don’t see this is truly a solution for such events.  Having either a trained school staff member with a concealed weapon or a full-time law enforcement officer on any campus and/or school just makes sense.  I can’t understand why most do not comprehend this.  It puzzles my mind.  How is this bad?  How can you think this is the wrong approach?

We cannot offer any sort of guarantee that such a massacre will not occur again.  However, taking such an approach may very well prevent one in the future or at least minimize the amount of innocent lives lost in such tragedies.

With that said, what is your opinion on this sensitive topic?

ConcealThis Poll: Polymer or Steel?

This has been the subject of debate for years now and while there are pros and cons to each, both options do offer many benefits and it all primarily comes down to overall use and carry method/frequency.  I have found that many are not quite fond of polymer pistols.  Some mainly state that quality is just not the same in comparison.  I can understand this because I’m honestly one who felt this way for some time.  That is, until I actually held and shot a few modern options on the market that made me think otherwise.   In addition, the option to own a polymer handgun became more of a wise choice when it came down to daily carry.  Most compact, sub-compact or pocket pistols are designed this way and with very good reason.  They can be significally lighter and are now just as well designed and on par in quality when compared to the alternative.  They are designed to last and withstand abuse just as well or better than their alloy or steel framed counterparts.

ConcealThis Poll: Do You Reload or Buy Factory Ammo?

Time for another ConcealThis Poll.  I have personally thought a few times about reloading my own ammunition.  However, after extensive research, I found it simply was not worth it for many reasons.  Not only must you have the right setup/environment, but you must factor in the cost of all components (excluding the one-time purchase of reloading hardware) when deciding to do so.  In addition, you must have a lot of time on your hands in order to pump out plenty of rounds for those frequent range visits.  After much research, I found that the cost of the ammo components were so close to the price of most factory ammo I buy, that I could not justify the time that must be dedicated to jump into this so-called hobby.  If you are a smart shopper, you can find your practice ammo quite cheap online, and that’s not the cheap/crappy stuff either.  You can find quality ammo that I recommend at discounted prices if you are determined enough. Comparing the two options, I found the difference in price was minimal and simply did not make sense to venture into this time-consuming task.

ConcealThis Poll: Do You Own Conceal/Tactical Apparel?

It’s time for another interesting ConcealThis Poll.  There are tons of options out there for those looking for tactical apparel to help conceal their weapon as comfortably as possible while allowing quick access to it when needed.  However, most out there are quite cumbersome, ugly and simply may not fit your style.  In addition, mostly all tactical clothing out there that target those that carry concealed weapons are honestly overpriced. With that said, do you personally own any tactical clothing and does it aid in providing both comfort and peace of mind?

If so, please feel free to comment below on your favorite gear after voting.

ConcealThis Poll: 380 or 9mm for Daily Carry?

We have the Kel-Tec PF-9 and have now seen plenty of new micro 9mm pistols hit the market to compete with it.  This includes the new Sig P290, Ruger LC9 and Kimber Solo.  However, unless you’re wealthy and somewhat willing enough to own an expensive Rohrbaugh,  none of the 9mm offerings are truly pocket sized and remain a burden to carry on a daily basis.  They also weigh substantially more than a 380 pistol. Despite the focus by manufacturers to release smaller 9mm handguns, they are simply not at the same level or as popular for concealed carry as the smaller 380 options.  Despite this, and not fully understanding that the 380 ACP is a comparable and powerful round, many feel and will only carry a minimum of 9mm for self defense.  With that said, which do you truly carry daily?  This latest ConcealThis Poll determines which remains the most popular carry option.

ConcealThis Poll: How Much Would You Pay for a 1911?

If you are a 1911 lover like myself, you know how expensive these handguns can be.  A custom or loaded 1911 can put a deep hole in your wallet.  However, there are manufacturers like Taurus that offer full-featured models that will fit your budget.  Their PT1911 reviewed here is a perfect example.  You don’t really have to resort to Colt, Kimber, Les Baer, Para or Springfield to name a few.  The options seem endless and so are their price tags.

With that said, what will you be willing to pay for your favorite 1911 pistol?  We hope to get an idea in this latest ConcealThis poll.

ConcealThis Poll: How often do you refresh your carry ammo?

It’s time for another ConcealThis Poll.  Those that carry handguns for protection know that you should always have fresh defense ammo at all times and most like to cycle through and swap them out from time to time.  The question is…how often do you swap old ammo?  Some like to do this every three to six months and others are not so concerned.  However, based on all the elements that can take a toll on your carry ammo such as heat, sweat and lubricants, it is always best to routinely cycle through them.

As an example, to your left above is a Federal 9mm LEO HST round that has been carried for 6 months next to a fresh round to your right.  Which one will you carry?
