There’s a new online shop to buy ammo in bulk that all gun owners should know about. This new site, bulkammo.com, does have plenty of ammo in stock at modest prices. One example is 1,000 rounds of Aguila .380 FMJ ammo for $295. Despite how expensive .380 ammo is, that comes out to only $14.75 a box of 50. Upon a quick glance, they seem to have a wide variety of ammo in all calibers that are actually in stock and ready to ship. The question remains as to how expensive their shipping rates are.

Saint Louis, MO – -(Ammoland.com)- As of this week, there is a new kid on the block whose specialty is bulk ammo.

BulkAmmo.com is a new online retail site that specializes in bulk ammunition for serious shooters.

The onsite navigation is designed for people looking to buy in large volume: especially law enforcement, military personnel, and other shooters who go through a lot of rounds.

So you just bought that pocket .380 and are now looking for a good way to carry it. Upon researching, you’ll find there are plenty of options. Most like generic holsters while others prefer a custom option. While I personally prefer generic options, the difference between both is actually justifiable and makes the decision that much harder. There are a few options out there that are worth a second look and one of these is from Woolfe Gun Leather.

While a pocket holster is the way to go with most 380 pistols, there are exceptions and one of them is the popular Sig P238 (reviewed here). This is a heavier single action pistol that would be best carried in an IWB or a OWB holster such as the one featured in the review article. Thanks to Woolfe Gun Leather, they provided a custom IWB holster for review. Let’s have a thorough look at their Wolf Bite for the Sig Sauer P238.

I’m not much to brag about packaging but this product is certainly an exception. It comes shipped in a heat shrink sealed bag along with instructions, warning tag and even an adsorbent for protection. Although minor, I was quite impressed by this.

Before I show you the holster in detail, it’s important to note its features…

· Grade “A” leather. We purchase our leather directly from Herman Oak Tannery. (Heavy 6/7 oz)

· Interchangeable Kydex clips. We make our own Kydex clips, .125 is thicker then the industry standard. We offer a full range of clip sizes.

· Non-reinforced throat. (Aids in conceal ability by keeping the overall thickness as slim as possible.)

· Open bottom. (This feature ensures foreign objects do not collect in your holster.)

· Sweat shield/Shirt guard. (Simply extends the leather the entire length of the gun for comfort.)

· Enough Clearance to obtain a full combat grip on your firearm while in the holster. (The importance of this can not be stressed enough.)

· All holsters are Saddle stitched with waxed 3 cord twisted nylon thread. (This is extremely strong cord; its tensile strength exceeds the requirements for this application.)

· Molded/Boned/Formed to fit your exact make/model of firearm. Also, all holsters are molded in a manner to form a groove specifically for your firearms front sight that runs the length of the holster.

· All holsters come with a money back guarantee. We design and test our holsters to provide you with the most comfortable, functional, and concealable holster possible. We realize what works for one person may not work for the next. Whatever the case may be we want you to be happy with your transaction.

Upon close inspection, it was clear the holster was built around quality and true custom fit. The Wolf Bite is a very slim holster and that’s important for an IWB option. The holster is available in black, brown, tan, cordovan and can be ordered with a 10, 15 or 20 degree cant. The one provided sports a 15 degree forward cant which I found to be just right.

Above are the same shots with the Sig P238 Equinox. The holster is well designed and the pistol fits like a glove.

As with most custom holsters, the gun will likely fit quite tight out of the box. What I always recommend it to use a ziplock bag or you can even use the plastic this holster ships in to break it in. After leaving it overnight with plastic wrap, the fit was just right in the morning.

Its slim design makes it highly concealable and quite comfortable to carry. Its 15 degree forward cant is just right for a quick and easy draw.

Conclusions

The Wolf Bite holster from Woolfe Leather is a high quality custom holster that fits the P238 well and is one that is comfortable to carry while allowing a quick draw when needed. Its overall quality is top notch and its slim profile is ideal for such small pocket pistols. Backed by a money back guarantee, it’s a perfect option for your P238 and with that said, it does earn our recommendation.

More information on the Wolf Bite and their other holsters can be found on their Official Website. You can place a custom order for the Wolf Bite holster here. Note that it is also available for most of the other pocket pistols available today.

Manassas, VA --(Ammoland.com)- We are now just a couple of months from the midterm elections and the political gamesmanship has begun to heat up.

It was former Wyoming Senator Alan Simpson (a Republican) who declared that in America we have the Evil Party, and the Stupid Party, adding that he belonged to the Stupid Party.

For those committed to restoring and protecting the rights of gun owners, the labels are broadly accurate. While there absolutely are Democrats who are personally committed to individual rights, the Democrat Party itself is not only opposed to gun rights, they lie about it. There are two basic policy positions for Democrats on guns and they both start with politicians declaring, “I strongly support the Second Amendment.”

It’s time for another ConcealThis Poll. Those that carry handguns for protection know that you should always have fresh defense ammo at all times and most like to cycle through and swap them out from time to time. The question is…how often do you swap old ammo? Some like to do this every three to six months and others are not so concerned. However, based on all the elements that can take a toll on your carry ammo such as heat, sweat and lubricants, it is always best to routinely cycle through them.

As an example, to your left above is a Federal 9mm LEO HST round that has been carried for 6 months next to a fresh round to your right. Which one will you carry?

Southport, CT –-(Ammoland.com)- Sturm, Ruger & Co., Inc. (NYSE:RGR) is proud to announce that a Ruger handgun has been named the Shooting Industry Academy of Excellence “Handgun of the Year” for the third straight year.

The Ruger SR9c, the first line extension in the SR9 striker-fired pistol, is the compact version of one of the slimmest and most ergonomic 9mm pistols on the market today.

“Ruger is honored to receive this award for the third year in a row,” said Ruger President and CEO Mike Fifer. “We are gratified that Ruger’s innovation and excellence in product design has once again been recognized by members of the firearms community.”

The SR9c compact pistol gives customers a very comfortable carry option in a reliable, 9mm platform. Incorporating the best features of the full-sized SR9, the SR9c offers an even smaller, more concealable option, ideal for discreet carry. “The SR9c reflects our commitment to provide consumers with affordable, quality products that meet their needs,” Fifer said.

The award was presented during the 8th Annual Shooting Industry Masters in Grand Island, Nebraska on July 23rd. The Academy, a 500-member group consisting of manufacturers, editors, writers, distributors and retailers from within the shooting industry, votes to honor outstanding achievements in product design and service to the industry.

Went to a local gun show today specifically to take a closer look at the new Smith & Wesson Bodyguard .380 which has just started to hit the market. For those who are not aware of this new little pistol, its main feature is a built-in Insight laser. But is this little gun worth buying? There are a couple of things to note before you go ahead and shell out your hard earned money on one.

Size

The pistol is quite small and very similar to all the other pocket 380 pistols covered on this website. However, what quickly got my attention was just how thin this pistol is. In fact, it is thinner than any of the popular pocket pistols in its class. A .380 just can’t get any slimmer folks. This may be a good design feature for some, but for others it may be a problem. I found it quite uncomfortable to grip properly do to its width and I do have small hands. The Diamondback DB380 remains on top in terms of overall comfort. You’ll want to hold one in your hands before you decide to purchase it.

Built-in Laser

Now to its main feature…the built-in Insight laser. This is what truly disappointed me and actually what kept me from purchasing one. The pistol sports two rubber buttons on both sides that turn the laser on or off. What I found is that it was quite difficult to enable the laser with the index finger and required a very hard push. This is not good and chances are you will not activate it on a quick draw from your pocket without plenty of practice. I mentioned this out loud at the show and when others around me held it, they also felt the same. In fact, it was after I said this out loud that the dealer said he’ll lower the price by $20. I thought maybe it was just the pistol I was holding but as you can tell from the picture I took above, they had more than one available and all were just as difficult to press. With that said, you’ll want to play with one for a bit to see if you are comfortable enabling the laser quickly each and every time. I can see why this may be by design, but those couple of seconds you’ll take to try and activate it can honestly cost you your life. I can’t stress that enough and is something that all should think about when carrying a handgun with a laser sight.

Conclusions

The S&W Bodyguard 380 is a nice little pistol that is out of the norm and will most certainly attract many and compete well with a number of other excellent options on the market today. However, you’ll want to play with one a bit before you determine if it is the right one for you.

If anyone owns one, I’d like your feedback…primarily in the areas of accuracy and trigger pull.
