KleenBore Silicon Cloth – Best $3 You’ll Ever Spend
When it comes down to protecting your handguns, there’s one particular product that I highly recommend and also does wonders in terms of overall aesthetics. The KleenBore Silicon Cloth is one I’ve been using for many years now and I can’t begin to tell you just how excellent this product really is. Think of it as detailing your car. The result on the finish of your handgun/s after using this cloth is like one of those cheesy infomercials. It really does work this well and is the best $3 you’ll ever spend on a handgun cleaning product. For those who carry daily, it is obvious that your holster, sweat and other factors take a toll on your guns’ finish. This product does aid in maintaining that “like-new” finish when used properly. On a minor note, this cloth has a very unique but pleasant smell. It is hard to explain, but I find its smell extremely pleasant. I’ve tried other cloths but find this particular one to be the very best. It basically does three things…protect, enhance and preserve the finish of any handgun. This product is highly recommended.
It is hard to depict in pictures, but visit the forums for some before and after photos…

So what’s your favorite gun lubricant? I think it is fair to say that many think, based on research, that RemOil is by far the best lube out there. Why? Well, it is obvious that the two main reasons are simply due to availability and price. RemOil can be easily purchased locally and is highly inexpensive. It does work well, but I personally prefer Militec-1 and have used it for years on all my handguns. Yes, it is more expensive, but I find it does an excellent job and protecting your handguns. Like RemOil, it is a synthetic lubricant but while most claim RemOil does not dry completely to the touch, I beg to differ. Militec-1 stays slightly wet to the touch and is an excellent alternative to grease, which I refuse to use on mostly all my handguns.
Speaking of gun sites, there is also one other option out there that I recommend. Let’s face it, even if you shell out over $600 for a new pistol, most come with crappy sights. However, most are reluctant to replace the stock sights unless they opt for some real night sights that are designed primarily for a particular pistol. While most can easily enhance their sights by purchasing quality florescent paint vails from your local hobby shop, most actually don’t work well and they are certainly no substitute to night sights. That’s where the following product comes into play. BrightSights are designed primarily for handguns and while you can purchase a standard kit that contains vails of highly bright paint, you can now purchase their ghost glow kit that contains the same bright paint but also includes their luminescent paints as well. Like the Nitesiters mentioned in my previous post, they react to light and function practically the same. I have these on a few of my pistols and have been quite satisfied with them.
Not everyone is willing to shell out a substantial amount of money on night sites and not all pistols actually have this option to begin with. One product I found that may be a suitable option for many are the NiteSiters. What are they really? Well basically, they ship in a small nifty package and contain a number of super adhesive, photoluminescent ”dots” that react heavily to light. They react very well to sunlight but also get “charged up” well under artificial light, particularly florescent and LED lighting. Depending on the light source and time of exposure to it, they can light up quite nicely for up to a few hours. The dots are just the right size and will fit just about any pistol you own. In fact, they ship a few extra “dots” so that you can install on more than one handgun. I like these quite a bit. Even when they are not “charged”, they can be better than the standard white sites on your pistol. For just 10 bucks, it really is a great product.
My personal experience with Kel-Tec has been extremely pleasant and is why I strongly stand behind their products and especially their superb customer service. Kel-Tec is the only company designing handguns that are among the smallest and lightest on the market. In fact, they have a strong hold of this market that has been obviously untouchable by all other manufacturers. One of their many pistols is their latest PF-9. Weighing in at just over 13oz loaded and measuring in at 5.85″x4.3″x0.88″, it is the lightest and slimmest 9mm on the market. Yes, there is one 9mm pistol that takes the top spot as being the smallest. However, if you’re after the most carry-friendly 9mm on the market without having to spend $800-$1,000 on one, this is it.
