USA Buys Enough Guns in 3 Months to Outfit the Entire Chinese & Indian Army

If the following article doesn’t finally make a point and manage to somewhat support my previous article regarding the real reason behind the current ammo shortage, I don’t know what will.  The numbers speak for themselves and I want you to focus mainly on the numbers given regarding total ammunition sales.  While these are just estimates and on the low end of the spectrum, you can’t get more credible numbers as NIC can provide.

EveryTown, USA - -(AmmoLand.com)- In just 3 months Americans bought enough guns to outfit the entire Chinese and Indian army’s combined.

You also bought 1,529,635,000 rounds of ammunition in just the month of December 2008. Yeah that is right, that is Billion with a “B”.

This is an evaluation of overall firearms and ammunition purchases based on low end numbers per Federal NIC instacheck data base Statistics. The numbers presented are only PART of the overall numbers of arms and ammunition that have been sold. The actual numbers are much higher.

Folks, don’t panic…relax.  Take what you hear like a grain of salt and don’t add to what is already a major issue for many gun enthusiasts.  I’ve never experienced such a shortage of ammo and so many people at gun shows as a result.

Fears lead to hike in gun sales in Texas

HOUSTON - Gun stores in Texas and across the country are experiencing a high demand for guns and ammunition fueled by fears of stricter gun-control laws under President Barack Obama and crime related to the recession.

The number of applications for concealed handguns jumped to 12,587 in February, up from 7,626 in the same month last year, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

“They’re worried about their security. The day after the election, gun sales exploded. We ran out of everything,” said Rob Corson, managing partner at Memorial Shooting Center, in an online story Thursday in the Houston Chronicle.

He said traffic has increased four times compared to last year and more staff has been hired since November. They have also asked customers looking for pistols to call ahead to make sure they’re in stock. The 9mm Glock, which retails for more than $500, is the most popular at the gun store.

NRA Sues Pittsburgh Over Gun Reporting Law

The National Rifle Association sued Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl and city council Friday over the legality of a city law requiring gun owners to report their lost or stolen guns.

The NRA said that the law “severely restricts and/or infringes” on citizens’ constitutional right to keep firearms in their homes. The NRA and four individuals also argue in the suit that the city doesn’t have the authority to regulate the ownership of firearms. The lawsuit was filed in Allegheny County Common Pleas Court. It names as defendants Ravenstahl and the Pittsburgh City Council. The law was approved by council in December and passed into law 10 days later without Ravenstahl’s signature.”I’m not surprised. When I didn’t sign the bill that’s exactly why I didn’t sign it. It was clear to me through the advice of our solicitor that it was an unenforceable ordinance at the local level and that State law prevented us to do so. I predicted that his day would come and in this case it’s the NRA,” Ravenstahl said.Ravenstahl told Channel 11 News that he’ll consult with the city solicitor to figure out the best way to proceed.

ConcealThis Oddities – You Serve That “Shot”

Perhaps some of you know about this but I honestly was not, up until I walked into my local liquor store today and found this product proudly displayed on the front counter.  Now, I’ve heard of such products and seen pictures of them online over the years.  However, most were clearly PS mock-ups and I just never payed any extra attention to them up until I laid my eyes on this one product, complete with its own serial number.

It seems that some alcohol distillers are taking some highly unique and risky marketing techniques to stand out from all the rest.  I know this personally, as I’m a collector of rare and/or banned alcohol.  My Black Death Vodka in Coffin is a perfect example of an otherwise award-winning spirit turned sour when it got banned by the Government and is now almost impossible to find.
