Novak Fiber Optic Handgun Sights Review

When it comes to handgun sights, there are only a select few respected companies that come to mind. One of them is certainly Novak. They are an established company with a very high reputation among many gun enthusiasts and their sights are also found in high-end pistols from a variety of well-known manufacturers. While primarily known for their adjustable and LowMount (carry-friendly) sights, the company does also have other options that are certainly worth a serious look. One of these is their Fiber Optic sights, which are a growing trend beyond just a shotgun. In this review article, I’ll provide a thorough look at them, as well as comment on both the benefits and overall experience with the company in general.

Overall Service & Experience

I’d like to start off with my overall experience and comment on their service, as this is obviously very important to most. When you choose any of their sights, you do have the option to have your whole gun or just the slide sent to them for installation. Yes, not only do they offer installation, but also do it fast…really fast. When I found they had new Fiber Optic sights available for the excellent Taurus PT 1911, I just had to jump on them.

My experience with the company is quite positive and I’m very satisfied. I sent the slide over via Fed-Ex two day and they immediately emailed me upon receiving the package. That was quite nice. What really did impress me was just how quick they got to my custom work order. Novak states that in most cases, the turnaround time is just one week. Well, they emailed me a shipping notification just three days after receiving the package.

Utah, Florida help non-residents pack guns

Florida is one of the most gun-friendly states and I happen to live in the sunshine state.  I read this article yesterday and it is certainly an interesting read…

The one-third or so of American adults who can’t obtain permits to carry concealed weapons from their home states need only look to Florida and Utah — and their mailboxes — to legally carry hidden guns.

Because both states grant concealed-carry permits to non-residents and have reciprocal agreements with other states under which their permits are recognized, possession of a Utah or Florida permit gives non-residents the right to carry hidden firearms in as many as 32 other states — though often not the one in which they live.

Tens of thousands of gun owners have obtained the non-resident permits, and their numbers are surging.

Bill would limit concealed-carry restrictions

This has been one of the hottest topics lately and something I’m for and would liked passed.  I see nothing wrong with this and if anyone disagrees, I’d like your input as to why.

COLUMBUS — New legislation introduced in the Statehouse this week would allow concealed carry licensees to pack heat in restaurants and bars.

Senate Bill 239, sponsored by Sen. Tim Schaffer, R-Lancaster, and a fellow Republican from the Dayton area, would also remove existing restrictions on how handguns can be carried in a vehicle. Sen. Mark Wagoner, R-Toledo, is listed as a co-sponsor.

Schaffer said existing law handcuffs, sometimes literally, well-intentioned Ohio gun owners and the language is excessively wordy. As it stands, the statute governing Ohio’s concealed carry law is three times as long as the Declaration of Independence, he said.

“It’s about taking micromanaging and complex wording out of the law … and making it more like the Declaration of Independence,” Schaffer said.

The bill would eliminate a prohibition on carrying a firearm in a business with a Class D liquor license, which includes grocery stores that sell alcohol as well as restaurants and bars.

Fear & Firearms

Gun sales still brisk in the wake of recession and Democratic control in Washington.

Just over a year ago, Southwest Florida gun stores experienced a frenzy of buying that industry veterans had never seen before. Store shelves were bare. Customers plunked down thousands of dollars on ammunition. The rush on weaponry was the result of regime change in Washington. Sales soared amid fears that the new administration would move quickly to institute bans on guns.

More than one year later, gun shops continue to coast on the wave of fear and uncertainty that initiated a rash of gun and ammo purchases. Shoot Straight, a chain of stores based in the Orlando area, is opening its first Southwest Florida location on Colonial Boulevard in Fort Myers. Gator’s Gun Werks, a new local shop, opened at the end of last year in Naples. Wolf Gunworks, an out of the way shop in Port Charlotte, doubled its size by 1,000 square feet. The owner is considering opening a second location.
