ConcealThis Review: SureStrike Laser Bullet

Many of us use standard snap caps for dry fire exercises.  They help protect the firing pin while allowing you to fire your pistol safely to test and practice trigger pull and other training exercises.  While these will do the job, what if you added a laser to the mix?  That’s exactly what the SureStrike Laser Bullet from Laser-Ammo offers.  They take it a step further by providing an easy to use laser training system that will enhance your overall training experience with your firearm.  Let’s have a thorough look at this unique product for handgun enthusiasts.

Packaging & Contents

Our sample came with an informational kit and plenty of extras that will be discussed here.  Let’s start by focusing on the kit alone.

The SureStrike Laser Bullet comes in kits supporting most popular calibers such as 9mm, .40 and .45ACP.  The kit sent over for this review was their 9mm option.  This kit comes standard with the SureStrike laser bullet, tiny battery pack, safety pipe, extension, safety nut, six reflective targets and user guide.  All comes in a small and handy zip carry case.

Update: According to Laser Ammo, this product comes in a 9mm kit standard.  Additional adapters are available to expand support for other handguns.

The beauty of the SureStrike kit is expandability.  Not only can you purchase adapters for other caliber pistols you own, but also purchase additional accessories to expand functionality.  This includes a bore sighting kit which they included for testing.

Installation

Install of the SureStrike system is quite simple.  What I loved about it is that it doesn’t require you to field-strip the handgun in order to install it.  The laser is inserted through the breech and the rest is installed with ease.  Just make sure you read the instructions very thoroughly before you attempt to install it on your pistol.  To demonstrate just how simple it is, I have provided a video below using both an adapter and extension for a full size 1911 .45 pistol.

Testing

The SureStrike Laser Bullet was tested using both a sub-compact 9mm pistol, as well as a full-sized 1911 .45 caliber pistol.  Both were trouble free and the install was just as easy.  Now what is nice about its functionality is that the laser is activated by the firing pin when the trigger is pulled.  This emits a laser pulse that simulates a “shot”.  The tiny targets included can be taped just about anywhere and do reflect the laser quite well.  You can even practice racking the slide back to simulate another load without any issues.  The only small issue I found is that you want to practice with it on a well lit room.  This will keep the laser dot small for a better idea of point of aim.  The darker the environment, the larger the dot.  To give you an idea of how well this product does work, I provided a second video below that demonstrates how it truly functions.  Video focuses on one of the included targets after a number of shots with one of the handguns used for testing.

Conclusions

The SureStrike Laser Bullet from Laser Ammo takes a standard snap cap a bit further by unleashing additional training capabilities through the use of a laser.  It is a highly unique product that not only works well, but provides additional functionality and handgun support via additional kits and adapters. The back cap is capable of  an impressive 5,000 shots before it needs replacement.  You don’t have to buy another kit.  Simply replace the back cap for just under $35.  You can practice anytime and anywhere with this system.  Simply tape the included targets or your own and start your training exercises.  It is basically a suitable replacement for a snap cap that does function as advertised. Its clever design, highly unique capabilites and handgun support earns our highest recommendation.
